Aquilae – The SCS Old Scholars Association

introducing Aquilae

With 14 years of matriculants having passed through the Southern Cross Schools gates, we are proud to launch Aquilae, our official old scholars' association.

The name Aquilae was chosen with input from past learners, reflecting both our school’s traditions and guiding philosophy. "Aquila", meaning eagle in Latin, is also the name of a constellation, blending our connection to the Southern Cross with the raptor concept introduced in Grade 8. Learners begin their journey at SCS as fledglings, nurtured and guided, until they take flight as fully-fledged raptors.

To mark this special launch, the Class of 2024 began a new tradition—gathering on the Southern Cross sports field to watch the sunset after a farewell address from the school and a welcoming address from Aquilae. This moment signified the end of their school journey and the start of a lifelong connection to the SCS community. With this new addition to our Southern Cross traditions, we are excited to grow, reconnect and create meaningful opportunities for our SCS family to stay united.
